In her presentation speech Dame Lorna said that the award is a prestigious honour for a company to receive and that NGF Europe justly deserved the accolade for its innovation.

HTS fibre filament, for which the company was honoured, has enabled belt-in-oil technology which is now making serious in roads to replace chain in automotive applications resulting in lighter, more economical engines with reduced fuel consumption and fewer emissions.

Invited guests included contractors and suppliers involved in the HTS fibre forming project along with those involved in the funding process. The project was completed on time, on budget and with zero incidents – a fantastic feat considering full production continued throughout. And there was further cause for celebration with the news that the cord produced at the fully-integrated site has received full approval from major customers for supply into Europe.

Dame Lorna was accompanied on the visit by The Lord High Sheriff of Merseyside, Abila Pointing, and the Worshipful Mayor of St Helens, Geoffrey Pearl.
