NGF Europe's Products Are Amongst The 'Best of British'

Press Release
11 Jun 2014

Small filament glass cords from NGF Europe have revolutionised the way automotive engineers approach engine design and on show was the revolutionary Ecoboost engine from Ford which has an innovative timing belt running in oil developed by NGFE customer Dayco

Also exhibited in the ‘Best of British’ showcase was an Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) system, developed by NGF Europe customer Gates. The system operates on demand using a synchronous belt when the vehicle is manoeuvring.  Compared with hydraulic systems, which create a constant power drain on the engine, the EPAS system reduces fuel consumption, is less noisy and much lighter, leading to simplified assembly and reduced production costs.

“As a company we are committed to technical development and manufacturing excellence. Our products are having a positive impact on automotive design as our exhibits alongside the ‘Best of British’ emphasised,” said Alistair Poole, NGF Europe managing director.

The invitation only event attracted an audience of over 200 global business leaders, opinion formers and key decision-makers from overseas companies and markets along with heads of UK-based businesses.

Situated in St. Helens, NGF Europe is a member of the Technical Glass Strategic Business Unit of the NSG Group and is at the forefront in the manufacture and marketing of specialised glass cord products used mainly in the automotive industry for the reinforcement of synchronous drive belts.

The items which went on show at St George’s Hall were chosen to reflect and support the Group’s long-term strategy and vision to be recognised as a value-added glass company.
